Save Ellis Island Website Redesign

Save Ellis Island is dedicated to the restoration and reuse of the buildings of the south side of Ellis Island. Through donations and grants, Save Ellis Island seeks to not only restore one of America's great historical landmarks but also repurpose the buildings to educate the world on the history and future of immigration and health issues.

Save Ellis Island approached Spitball with a unique challenge. Create an accessible, educational and engaging website for a wide range of audiences. Since the organization's current goal is to build awareness of the project, the website had to inform the general public of the situation and inspire action to get involved, donate and share. The long-term vision of the website and organization is to be a world-class conference center focusing on education - which has a different set of specific audiences from teachers and preservationists to the medical and science fields.

At the center of the website redesign was a consistent tone across the Save Ellis Island and its educational arm, Ellis Island Institute websites. The design bridges the past and future while delivering a user-friendly experience. Spitball transformed the existing text content and delivered engaging interactive experiences.
